------------------------------------------------------------------------- The letter to be sent to those who wish to join the BELLE collaboration ------------------------------------------------------------------------- The BELLE collaboration is still open for new members who are also members of the Belle II collaboration (see item 2 in "Miscellaneous comments" below). If you are enthusiastic about the physics potential of KEKB and are interested in joining the BELLE collaboration, please write an application letter to the spokespersons at: spokes@bpost.kek.jp ( Prof. Kenkichi Miyabayashi at Nara Prof. Mikihiko Nakao at KEK Prof. Youngjoon Kwon at Yonsei ) The letter should include; 1) Statement of interests; 2) Self-introduction; 3) Area to which the institution would like to contribute; (in addition to physics analysis, please mention service task) 4) Amount of manpower, equipment to be committed; 5) Current commitments and future plans; 6) Names of references (preferably the members of the BELLE Collaboration) or recommendation letters; 7) Special requests or comments, if any; 8) e-mail address, telephone no., FAX no. of the contact person; and 9) e-mail addresses of individuals. The procedure for admittance is as follows: 1) Ordinarily, the matter is discussed at the next IB (Institutional Board) meeting. The matter is decided at the 2/3 majority in the IB meeting. (One vote per each institute as a rule) It is then recommended at the BELLE general meeting, where final approval (or rejection) is given. IB meetings are held several times a year at the time of General BELLE collaboration meetings. The applicant is encouraged to come to the meeting and give a presentation, but should be out of the room when the matter is discussed. 2) Under exceptional circumstances, the spokespersons can give a provisional admittance, after consultation with the IB members (via telephone, fax, e-mail etc.). The formal approval is given at the next collaboration meeting. When the matter is subtle, the decision will be postponed until the next IB and general meeting. 3) Any current member institution of the Belle II collaboration that requests membership in BELLE by submitting an application letter to the spokespersons, according to the procedure described above, may be granted membership immediately without the need for a discussion and vote in the next Institutional Board meeting. The spokespersons will inform the IB Chair of this application and acceptance and the IB Chair will, in turn, inform the IB contact persons by email and by announcement at the next BGM. (approved at Nov-2014 IB/BGM) Miscellaneous comments 1) Commitments to any other experiments will be discussed at the IB meeting. 2) Additional member (students, postdocs as well as senior members) of an existing member institution, as long as listed in the Belle II memberlist with the same institution, will be accepted if the member wants to join. The joining procedure is handled by the joining member by him/herself. 3) A new BELLE member has to be also a Belle II member, since there is very limited available BELLE service tasks.
