------------------------------------------------------------ < Comments on the undergraduate students working on Belle > 2009.12.20 The Belle group encourages undergraduate students working on Belle. As described in the "Governance of the Belle experiment" http://belle.kek.jp/belle/rules/belle_governance.txt 1.Members Physicists, engineers and graduate students who contribute significantly to the Belle experiment are eligible to be members. the undergraduate students are not full Belle members. Following above policy and the rule for undergraduate students at KEK, we take the procedures below for undergraduate students working on Belle. 1) New undergraduate students working for Belle are reported at IB meeting if the IB contacts report to IB Chair. The period of undergraduate course should be given. 2) Reported undergraduate students are listed in Belle member list indicating they are undergraduate students (i.e. not a full members), using ">>" instead of ">" used for graduate students. 3) Above listed undergraduate students are included in belle_ml. 4) Undergraduate students need to do KEK User Registration. (When they visit KEK, they are registered separately.) 5) When undergraduate students visit/stay at KEK working on Belle (such as analysis and detector works, attending meetings..), the following procedures are taken (according to KEK rule for undergraduate students). - Fill one page form and send to Belle secretary by a month before the visit in principle. So, please send above application early enough. - If the work in radiation area is planned at KEK, the procedure specified at home institute should have be done before KEK visit. At KEK, usual procedures for radiation work are to be taken. (this is same for all.) - Staff members of the institutes of students should be responsible for (supervise) the work of students. [ The work at KEK is regarded as university course work. ] Note) An undergraduate student, who has made significant contributions to a paper, can be included as an author with the agreement of the primary authors and spokespersons according to "Authorship policy" 1.1.
